SLEEPiNG

SLEEPiNG
SLEEPiNG is the bruise. That palpable melancholy that surfaces the more you try to suppress it. The ego in fracture, standing black and blue where the red has been pinched and pressed too far.
In Sleeping With The Enemy from Imani Rose 2012 EP UNAPOLOGETiCALLY she uses the work of Pablo Picasso from different times in his life to illustrate the lack of alignment in an ill fated relationship. His Rose Period lives in warm reds and tender pinks while his Blue Period lives in cold blues and private sorrow. This lipstick is the artifact of that juxtaposition, ugly when intersecting, but leaving a beautiful cautionary tale in its alchemy.
“God speaks through every artist
His light’s in every hue
I’m his Rose Period and you you’re his Blue
See Picasso kept it separate on purpose
Baby it’s not worth it . My vision you’ll just blur it”
Blackened violet with a cool blue base & a quiet red undertone. Under soft light it reads deep indigo bruise , the red rises through the blue like blood under skin Under warm light .SLEEPiNG is a Saturn lullaby, a South Node spiritual, a Neptunian siren song while your Chiron cries the chorus and your Psyche sits with every love that split you into your own internal civil war.
